The CPD Support pack will improve pharmacy staff awareness and understanding of CPD in the workplace. It defines the basic principles of CPD including the CPD cycle and how to use it, the driving forces behind CPD and the benefits of CPD to individuals and organisations. The pack is most suitable for those who are new to CPD.
The pack is flexible in that it can be used by individuals as a distance learning pack or as a training session to be delivered to groups of staff in a lunch hour or similar time. Therefore as well as the main pack there is a pre-session handout a post-session handout and a PowerPoint presentation. A webinar version of this CPD Support pack is also available and can be used by individuals as an alternative to working through the above resource. Visit the CPD Webinars page for more details.
Some people struggle with writing their first CPD entry as they are just not sure where to start. Our Top Tips for recording CPD has been designed to help.
Guided CPD entries can be used to demonstrate how everyday issues in the workplace offer opportunities for CPD recording. Guided CPD entries are a particularly useful tool for people who are struggling for ideas for what to record in their CPD entries. Our Guided CPD entry template can be used to develop a training session based on any CPD issue e.g. a news item in a recent journal. We have also developed some example guided CPD entries which demonstrate how to translate a piece of learning into CPD.

The Reflective Practice pack was developed to encourage individuals to develop their reflective practice. It includes information on the differences between reflection and reflective practice and the relationship between reflection and learning. The pack describes CPD starting at Reflection and CPD starting at Action. There is also an activity on writing a CPD entry starting at reflection.
The pack is flexible in that it can be used by individuals as a distance learning pack or as a training session to be delivered to groups of staff in a lunch hour or similar time. Therefore as well as the main pack there is a post-session handout and a PowerPoint presentation.
Whilst it is possible to start recording CPD at any of the 4 stages of the CPD cycle, the GPhC and LPE&T recommend starting CPD at either Reflection or Action. If you want to record CPD starting at Planning or Evaluation contact Helen Middleton for a copy of a handout on recording CPD starting at all 4 stages of the CPD cycle.
The Learning to Ride tool kit is designed to assist staff in completing the reflection and planning stages of the CPD cycle. The tool kit helps people to reflect on their practice, identify learning/development needs and plan to meet them.
The tool kit is flexible in that it can be used by individuals as a distance learning pack or as a training session to be delivered to groups of staff in a lunch hour or similar time. Therefore as well as the main pack there is a PowerPoint presentation.
LPE&T developed View & Review to raise awareness of the GPhC CPD Reviewer Criteria and help pharmacists and pharmacy technicians identify examples of CPD that meet and do not meet these criteria. View & Review is most suitable for CPD Facilitators. It can also be used by pharmacists and pharmacy technicians with some experience of CPD recording who want to know if their CPD is good enough. View and Review contains 7 sample CPD entries for review against the GPhC CPD Reviewer Criteria and a marking grid to record your answers. N.B. GPhC CPD Reviewer Criteria are the minimum standard. Therefore a CPD entry may meet this minimum standard but there may still be areas for improvement. On the marking grid record this as "Tips for improving the CPD entry further". After completing the review you can refer to our sample answers which are also contained in the View and Review pack. We suggest that you review all 7 CPD entries using the marking grids before looking at the sample answers to see how your answers compare.
